Chaithanya Obesity Clinic

Comprehensive Ayurvedic Approach to Weight Management

Obesity is a medical condition characterized by excessive fat accumulation in the body, which can significantly impact health, lower life expectancy, and increase the risk of chronic diseases. At Chaithanya Obesity Clinic, we address obesity not just as a physical condition but as a systemic imbalance, using the time-tested principles of Ayurveda to provide sustainable, natural, and holistic weight management solutions.

Causes of Overweight and Obesity

Obesity is often the result of multiple contributing factors, including:

  • Dietary habits – Consumption of calorie-dense, high-fat, and high-carbohydrate foods.

  • Lifestyle choices – Overeating, irregular meal timings, and lack of physical activity due to sedentary routines.

  • Medical and physiological conditions – Genetic predisposition, endocrine disorders, certain medications, and psychiatric illnesses.

  • Poor daily routines – Daytime sleeping and erratic sleeping patterns disrupt metabolism and contribute to weight gain.

Causes of Overweight and Obesity

The physical and psychological symptoms of obesity may include:

  • Shortness of breath even with mild exertion

  • Persistent fatigue and lethargy

  • Excessive hunger and overeating

  • Profuse sweating with body odor

  • Low motivation and reduced interest in daily tasks

  • Excessive sleepiness and general sluggishness

Diagnosis and Risk Assessment

Obesity is typically assessed using the Body Mass Index (BMI), which is calculated by dividing an individual's weight in kilograms by the square of their height in meters (kg/m²). A BMI above the healthy range indicates overweight or obesity and signals an increased risk for a host of health complications, including heightened vulnerability to infections like COVID-19, cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome.

Ayurvedic Perspective: 'Medovikara' and 'Sthoulya'

In Ayurveda, obesity is classified under ‘Medovikara’ and ‘Sthoulya’, indicating an imbalance of the Kapha dosha and impaired digestion (Agni). Accumulated fat blocks the body’s internal channels (srotas), leading to Vata imbalance and compromised metabolic functions. This results in impaired nutrient assimilation, excessive hunger, and increased fat storage, further aggravating the condition.

Our Treatment Approach

At Chaithanya, we follow a holistic and individualized treatment protocol focused on restoring metabolic balance and promoting sustainable weight loss. Our approach includes:

  • Customized dietary plans that emphasize digestion-boosting and fat-reducing foods

  • Yoga and exercise routines tailored to improve metabolism and burn fat

  • Internal medications to regulate Agni (digestive fire), enhance metabolism, and balance hormones

  • Ayurvedic therapies, including medicated massages, Udvartanam (herbal powder massage), steam therapy, and other Panchakarma procedures for detoxification and lymphatic drainage

  • Lifestyle modifications to align daily habits with natural biological rhythms

By addressing the root causes of obesity through Ayurvedic principles, we aim to not only support weight loss but also restore vitality, improve energy levels, and enhance overall well-being.
